Having grown up in Saskatoon, I am honoured to have been invited to judge at
the 2008 Golden Retriever Nationals. After finishing university and getting
married in 1968 Karen and I relocated to Regina where we first got involved
with the sport of obedience when we acquired a miniature poodle named Robald’s
Jolly Roger. In 1977 we left the prairies and moved to Vancouver Island
with our two boys where we still reside.
In the early 80’s we gravitated to American Cocker Spaniels who are still
our number one love in dogs. We have been members of the North Saanich Dog
Obedience Training Club (NOSA) and the Victoria City Kennel Club since the
mid 80’s and have been actively involved since then in trialing, teaching
obedience classes at all levels (including rally) as well as acting as
trials chair for Vic City and trials secretary for NOSA.
Since my retirement in 2003, I have become more formally active on the
judging side and am currently licensed to judge obedience at all levels for
the Canadian Kennel Club (CKC) and the Association of Island Obedience Clubs
and to judge rally obedience at all levels for the CKC and the Canadian
Association of Rally Obedience (CARO).
